Our Founder
James Polyzoidis BEC LLB LLM
James is a seasoned senior lawyer who has reached the highest levels of the legal profession both in private and corporate practice.
James commenced his professional career at Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) Corporate Tax Group (focussing mainly on banking clients and international tax matters). After gaining his Master of Laws degree in 1992, James practiced at major Australian law firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques (Taxation Group) advising on multinational banking and finance matters, capital markets transactions (capital raisings and M&A), and transactions involving major property, resources and infrastructure clients.
In 1996, James ventured into the interntional investment banking sector, initially as Tax Counsel of the Bankers Trust Investment Bank and then at Deutsche Bank AG. In this capacity James oversaw sophisticated and cutting-edge global transactions (M&A, capital markets, property and infrastructure – many were multi $ Billion) where he was responsible for advising principals and project team leadership. Over the following decade, James achieved senior roles (directorships) at Deutsche Bank and Barclays Capital Structured Capital Markets Groups, with postings in the USA, London and Australia. In these roles, James used his legal and commercial talents to design and execute major (multi-Billion dollar) transactions in the international capital markets.
In 2007, James founded Polygon Aegis, where he assisted the firm’s private and institutional clients with their legal, investment and fund-raising requirements. In 2022, Polygon Aegis created Gavel Law as a means of extending professional legal services to a wider client base.
James has wholeheartedly embraced this new chapter in his career and looks forward to being of service to Gavel Law’s clients and the wider community.
